AKOYA AFROBEAT - FELA DEY / WAHALA:
Whooa, storming 12 or what?! Two murderous afrobeat sides in the Fela tradition that wouldn't sound out of place next to the master. Not gonna say anything more, you just listen.

BATILE ALAKE & HER WAKA GROUP - MADAM JARINATU ADEBIWALE / TOWO TOWO:
Rare mono original 45 from Nigeria. Both sides are nice but i prefer "Towo towo". Cool yoruba chanting over traditional african rhythms. Price is reduced due to the condition but playback is quite fine actually. Cover has small writing & small dirt stains.

EBENEZER OBEY - SINGING FOR THE PEOPLE:
Mainly traditional Juju music here, a few tracks have some disco & afrobeat influences but they still sound pretty traditional. Seldom seen Nigerian original from 1983. Try the title track etc.

MULATU ASTATKE / TESHOME METEKU - YEKERMO SAW (YEKERMO SEW) / MOTE ADELADAYOU:
Incredible rarity here on original Amha 7". Unbelievable Ethiopian jazz/funk sound from Mulatu with a wicked band. The record looks terrible with marks and more marks. "Yekermo saw" plays surprisingly well, with considerable crackle and pop but it's a loud pressing and still enjoyable. The worst bit is in the beginning. The less interesting A-side plays poor. Plain sleeve. Like many other Ethiopian records this one has "Made in India" on the label. AE 190 with writing and slight tear on one label.

OFEGE - TRY & LOVE:
Reissue of rare afro/funk/psych LP from Nigeria. "Lead me on" is a druggy affair with laidback vocals. "Ofege" and "Nobody fails" are also great. Has that hybrid sound of funk, afro, rock and psych that many bands from West Africa have. Reminds me of Blo, One World, Hykers etc.

RAIL BAND DU MALI - MELODIAS:
French export issue. Deep Malian music from this poular group. Have a listen to "Maki" to get an insight to how this LP sounds like. As with a LOT of music from this part of the world the condition ain't the best. Some light noise through out but the music still shines through if you are not too fussy. Price is reduced due to the condition.

SIR VICTOR UWAIFO - GUITAR-BOY SUPERSTAR 1970-76:
Miles Cleret compilation of Nigerian musical hero. From highlife to funk, this is a well-packaged (as always with Soundway) presentation of an impressive musical mind. Check "Idogo", "Agho" or "Do lelezi" and keep in mind that the guy built his own guitar at age 12!

SJOB MOVEMENT - A MOVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION:
Reissue of seriously rare Nigerian LP from 1974. Spacey keyboards and light vocals over a tight funky backing. Listen to the afro/funk/disco jams "Country love" and "Stone funk" plus "Omo oloro lonje eyin awo". Very nice and well worth checking.

TROPICAL TREATS / SOFRITO SPECIALS - TROPICAL SOUNDCLASH:
New Sofrito release with 4 tropical club slayers. Stockholm's own Tropical Treats do "Rift Valley groove" that sounds much like a more obscure "Greedy G". Then it's the fierce cumbia/disco crossover "Cumbia colombiana". B-side has a hypnotic Franke Francis edit plus the wicked afro/disco jam "Tabou for the people". Expensive to get in, but it's a small pressing and will probably be gone in no time.
